CARTHAGINIANS

Carthaginian armies were the very opposite of Rome’s Legions of Citizens. Other than a small corps of officers and some cavalry all ranks were Mercenaries recruited from half a dozen or more nations. Probably the “classic” Carthaginian army is the one that won the victories of Trasimene, Trebbia and above all Cannae.
